Pumped storage energy

　　Pumped storage is the process of using excess electricity as a liquid energy medium during low grid periods to pump water from low lying reservoirs to high lying reservoirs. During peak load periods, the water from high lying reservoirs flows back to the lower reservoir to drive the turbine generator to generate electricity, with a power generally controlled at 75%, commonly known as 4 in and 3 out. It has daily scheduling capabilities and is used for peak shaving and backup.

　　Disadvantages: Difficulty in site selection and its reliance on terrain; The investment cycle is relatively long, with high losses, including pumping losses and line losses; At present, it is also constrained by China's electricity price policy. Last year, more than 80% of China's pumped storage was exposed to the sun. In August of the same year, the National Development and Reform Commission issued a policy on pumped storage electricity prices, which may improve in the future, but it is definitely not a trend towards energy storage.
